MWO Atlas model gets a paint job.
So this is the preliminary results of my paint testing. In my quest to figure out what sticks to printed PLA and figure out what other issues arises for painting, I decided to try and paint one of my atlas’s (the one with the most print related flaws In-case I mess it up). 2nd Place! Makerbot Thingiverse Birdhouse Challenge results.
Results are in for the Thingyverse Birdhouse Challenge and our entry received 2nd place! We are very pleased with the result however from the final print shown, it appears Makerbot may have had a few problems with their print. The base is slightly warped and they are missing a perch. Still, it was a great challenge and we really enjoyed the creative juices it inspired in the community. Read more…

3D Printed 6″ Tall Posable ATLAS (MWO Universe)
So we finally finished my 3D printed Atlas and gave it it’s own photoshoot.
Roughly 30 parts (excluding pegs), Freely Stands at 6″ tall, most of the major joints are movable. Printed in Silver PLA. The biggest challenge was keeping the integrity of the atlas design while making the joints operational in a physical model, coupled with the limitations of FDM printing.
